SIXTH ANNUAL SUMMER SPECIAL EVENT!!!

Join the Greater San Diego Whippet Association, Wednesday, August 11th as we celebrate our 6th Annual Fiesta Island Fun Run, Potluck & Guest Speaker.

The evening will start off at 4:30 pm with a leash-free fun run at Fiesta Island. After running our dogs, we will travel a short distance over to Mission Bay Park for a potluck and an enlightening presentation at 6:00pm. Our guest speaker for this event is Linda Troup. Linda is a Tellington TTouch Practitioner. TTouch is a hands on method used to enhance learning, behavior, performance, well-being and it deepens the connection between animals and their people. Check out Linda’s website for more info at www.TouchNPaws.com Linda will use our dogs to demonstrate and there will be a question and answer period afterwards.

INSTRUCTIONS

Bring a Chair and a Potluck dish to share. Bring coats for you and your dogs, as it can get chilly by the water in the evening and a crate or a blanket for your dogs to lay on as we will be on cement/grass.

IMPORTANT: Dogs are allowed leash-free at Fiesta Island at all times, however, dogs are only allowed at Mission Bay Park on a leash after 6pm. Please DO NOT bring your dog out of the car at Mission Bay until after 6pm.

DIRECTIONS TO FIESTA ISLAND (4:30pm)

From the I-5 Fwy. Take the Sea World Dr. /Tecolote Rd exit. Go west on Sea World Dr. Turn right on E. Mission Bay Dr. and go about 100 yds. to Fiesta Island Dr. Turn left on Fiesta Island Dr, proceed past the gate where the road becomes a one way loop around the island. At the first Y in the road, bear left. Keep bearing left and continue around until you see a fenced area ahead and to your right. Park in front of the fenced area and we will meet here before entering the dog area at 4:30 pm.

DIRECTIONS TO THE MISSION BAY POTLUCK (6pm)

From Fiesta Island: As you exit Fiesta Island turn left on E. Mission Bay Dr. On your left is the bay. Follow the road till you see the sign that says Tecolote Shores and turn left into that parking area. We will be at the blue roofed picnic area just south of the Hilton Hotel.

Annual GSDWA Unbenched Specialty Shows and Sweepstakes

GSDWA 2011 SPECIALTY: JANUARY 7, 2011

Our Club Specialty is just around the corner--January 7, 2011--and we need to submit names for Judges to the Inland Empire Hound Club. The earlier we submit names, the more likely it is that the Judges we want would be available. I would appreciate it if you would submit names to me ASAP so that we might consider them at our Board meeting Wednesday, April 14th.

Information

Time

  • 8:00am Start
  • Goes for the time it takes to give the dogs 3 runs each (usually not later than 11:00am)
  • Please be on time or we won't be able to give your dog all its runs!

Cost

  • $3/3 runs per dog for GSDWA members
  • $5/3runs per dog for non-GSDWA members

Bring

  • a crate for each dog,
  • snug fitting collar on each dog that they can't back out of,
  • 2 leashes (one for releasing and 1 for the catcher),
  • water and bowl for dog(s),
  • chair for yourself
